SSN for Tenant Screening Purpose
When we ask for the applicant's Social Security Number, it is for the purpose of the credit bureau (Experian) to generate questions from the applicant's credit file and verify his or her identity and generating the applicant's credit report.
Our criminal and eviction data provider (CIC) uses the Social Security Number to match criminal and eviction records (if applicable) as another form of validating the accuracy of the matched data.
LeaseRunner doesn't store the applicant's SSN and does not display it to the landlord in the application process.
SSN for Tenancy
The landlord may require SSN from the tenant for the purpose of the lease. This should happen outside of the LeaseRunner system. LeaseRunner doesn't have the capability of storing the tenant's SSN in its database.
